Imagine a world where all of the creatures from horror stories were real. Imagine living right next door to them. Maybe you would know that they were monsters, maybe you wouldn't. These creatures were designed to resemble the humans in every aspect. They're the perfect hunters.
Are you afraid?
You should be.
Imagine, waking up one morning and realizing that you were no longer at the top of the food chain; you were no longer top dog. These abominations were stronger, faster, smarter, better... And you were there prey. What would you do?
You would do exactly what the humans did, wouldn't you?
Twenty three years ago, the humans discovered that there were creatures, such as the ones described above living alongside them. They aptly named this creatures, "Monsters."
The humans were frightened. Hell, the humans were petrified. They would stop at nothing to make sure that these monsters were dead, and only their kind remained.
A war began.
The "Monsters" while being stronger were fewer in numbers. The humans had the numbers, but they didn't have the strength. They came to a quagmire after the world almost blanked itself out of existence. They were their own worst enemies; the end of humanity won't be when the sun burns out... It will be by their own hands.
The humans and the "Monsters" came up with an agreement. The "Monsters" would live on Human-Made Reservations to make sure that they weren't endangering the humans, and the "Monsters" would then be left alone. At first, due to the violence that had broken out before, both parties were content with the idea. Even all of the fighting factions of the "Monsters." The war needed to end, and this was the only peaceful course of action.
But, paranoia began scratching it's nails along the backs of the humans once again. That faint shiver that they had began feelings was steadily growing into a gut wrenching tearing of flesh.
The humans invaded the Reservations, killing everything that they could.
The "Monsters" fled, protecting their young, friends and family, never to return to the arms of the humans ever again.
It was then that they discovered their own little pockets of land that were destroyed in the war, or some that were completely untouched by humanity. They hid there, and built their lives anew.
One Reservation, in particular, happens to be the most successful, and has a way of running things that make other Reservations envious. It's somewhere on the North West Coast of the United States... Perhaps, bordering on Canadian soil as well. There's a group of Overseers, a member of each species, picked to deal with the rest of their kind. They run the Reservation and attempt to keep the peace amongst the rest of the "Monsters."
While the Humans were initially the prey, the "Monsters" are now the terrorized ones.
Now, imagine a world where you're hated for something that you had no choice in becoming. Imagine, being ripped away from your home... your friends... your belongings. Imagine being thrown into a home that you do not like with people that are sooner to spit in your face than take your hand... Imagine... houses burning down, children screaming, crying for their mother while their parents are shot, stabbed, torn to pieces... Imagine, picking up and leaving the carnage to live in constant fear where food may or may not be found... Imagine having to huddle under a blanket next to a former enemy, now to find strength and unity in that miniscule amount of physical contact you two share.
The Humans were once prey. The Monsters are now the Humans game...
