( RACHEL MARIE BLACK. )
"Sometimes I get that feeling ; She’s watching over me ; And other times I feel like I should go ;"
The Basic Info
FULL NAME: Rachel Marie Black
NICKNAME(S): Rach, Black
AGE: 21
GENDER: Female
I LIKE: males
SPECIES: human
SPECIAL POWER: n/a ~ although there is an unforeseen future.
The Looks
HAIR COLOR: Her hair, usually a tangled and wavy mess of dark, dark brown, can put off a look of being raven black. But it’s when she’s in the sun that you see her color most – a deep brown in like with the color of dark chocolate.
EYE COLOR: It’s her mother’s eyes that used to attract the masses – but now, it’s been passed down to her second daughter, Rachel. Her father usually comments on how much it reminds him of her mother – its soft blue and rim of icy cornflower blue contrasts against her tan appearance.
HEIGHT:5’5”
WEIGHT: 56.7 kg = 124 lbs
THE BODY: Rachael Black as curly black hair that
falls to her tan shoulders, complimenting her bright blue hues
and high cheekbones, the same ones that came from her Native American ancestors. She is slender, but has a muscular build to her from her hobby – Track. She has oddly shaped toes, and slender fingers – which she gets manicured every five weeks. As far as clothing, she tends to wear trends that suit her. She likes earthy tones – anything that supports her and compliments her. But, sometimes, she’ll occasionally wear what’s ‘in’ and go with the flow of fashion traffic.
If you saw Rachael casually on the street –which that might happen a lot, considering she likes walking and whatnot – you’d notice two things about her. One, her face was bright. She’d most likely be staring at the ground as she walked, but her face was hard to miss. The second thing you’d notice was the way that she was walking: comfortable, smooth, and brisk. She has this odd habit of walking between the lines on the sidewalk, and counting the trees along the streets as a sort of game. It keeps her mind alert. For some reason, you wouldn’t want to talk with her right away, because she seemed to be walking with a purpose. But somehow, she’d find a way to find your eyes, and light up.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: She pierced the cartilage of her ears, and had yet to get any tattoos.
PLAY BY: Jessica Szohr
The Personality
LIKES: Color – anything that can catch her eye, move her heart, flutter artistic thoughts into her mind, caress her emotional reservoir, or make her stop and stare ; Cuddling – the warmth of another human being, the arms of a loved one around her shoulders, the comfort of someone there when she’s scared, or the breath of a loved one’s voice in her ear ; Deep Meaning – like the reason for life, the thought about the reason of existence, the theory for love, and passion, and energy, going deeper for hidden meanings, symbols, signs, the thought of a higher being or something out there.
DISLIKES: People who can’t ask for help ; People who destroy themselves ; Cigarettes
STRENGTHS: -Strong: Rachael is an extrovert, a powerplayer, and a go-getter. She doesn’t let anyone tell her what she can and can’t do, and won’t stand for anyone putting her down. She has a fierce anger that sometimes fuels her competitive fire, but she won’t use her strength for the wrong purposes. In most cases, she’ll only display her strength when she’s invigorated or when someone needs her help.
-Analytical/Understanding: This trait works with and against her. In any situation, it’s like she has a computer working in the back of her mind – analyzing and computing any information to see if she can make anything more out of it. In this sense, she seems to have more insight on people than most of them know. But unfortunately, her analytical thinking might lead her to wrong assumptions – a mistake she hates to make. Because of this, she’ll tend to keep her information to herself to avoid being wrong.
-Forgiveness: Though Rachael may seem strong and unrelenting, she actually has a very soft forgiving side. Her heart goes out to those who need help, and she can’t help but run to their side. When people hurt her, she promises to be mad at them forever, but what ends up happening is forgiveness, which in the end helps her move on. Her forgiveness has helped her forget a lot of horrible things that had happened in her life. Although, some would say that she forgives too easily.
-Artist: Rachael has found over the years that she’s really good at art. She found that, after a lot of practice and late nights that she can also draw with both her left and right hand. Though she first discovered her talent digitally, she’s beginning to draw traditionally, like drawing landscapes and scenery. She loves drawing people, and sometimes you’ll see her sketching one on a random piece of paper. After finding her talent, she found something that she was passionate about. She’s going to college for her degree in art.
WEAKNESSES:-Fear of Being Wrong:, Rachael’s weak spot is her fear of being wrong. Though her powerful demeanor might hold up for a lot of people, inside she’s constantly in turmoil and fear of doing the wrong things or being wrong overall. She hates it when she lets people down, and she’ll try to avoid this, no matter what the price – even if it’s her own voice. Constantly, she’s wondering if she’d doing the right thing, or saying the right things. She holds all inside of her, which is another bad thing about her: she tends to bottle up a lot important feelings because she thinks she can handle it all. It’s not that she isn’t open to talking to people. It’s just that she thinks she’s strong enough to handle all the emotion by herself.
-Gullible: Unfortunately, Rachael tends to go along with a lot of plans that don’t seem to work. Her analytical side helps her through this, but Rachael always makes the first mistake with believing everybody first, and then learning the truth later. It’s always been a private, subconscious rule with her to give everyone the benefit of the doubt before waving them off as liars. At first, this may seem nice of her. But this has gotten her into so much trouble, she can’t even count how many times she’s believed someone and then ended up in a horrible situation.
-Stubbornness: Along with strength comes responsibility. And Rachael thinks she can handle it all. In fact, if people try and do her job for her, she’ll be really mad. She likes to think that she’s always right, and will hate it if anyone told her otherwise, but then she realizes the truth and her faults, she won’t openly admit it. She hates showing that one sign of weakness, and will continue to admit that she’s right until she’s openly shown wrong. And when it comes to that, she’ll most likely be ticked.
-Late: Rachael is always late. To everything. She’s tried so many things: buying a watch, installing a clock in her room, plugging in alarms into her cell phone and music player…but no matter what she does she always finds a way to get distracted and ends up being late to mostly everything. For important things, not so much, but if you want her to meet you at a local fast-food joint at 4:30, she’d probably get there at 5:00.
QUIRKS/HABITS: When she’s excited, she’ll clench her teeth together.
FEARS: Being alone ; Being left behind ; Losing her family ; Needles
SECRETS: When she was in middle school, she had sex with her boyfriend in the back of her dad’s truck
FULL LENGTH PERSONALITY:
Her personality is mainly a mixture of her influences. Her father was a strong character – he taught her well and prepared her for the world ahead of her. He taught her how to stand up for herself, how to speak up – even how to fight someone if necessary. He was a good father. And he continues to be that way for her, even when she comes back to La Push. She is like a wide-eyed lamb, just starting to experience the world and tasting it’s turmoil. She’ll continue to be that innocent lamb until, of course, something goes wrong. (Because somehow, I her case, things always tend to go wrong.) Then, she’ll turn into a lion, on the prowl. She isn’t a ferocious lion that attacks because she always assumes the better out of people, which of course makes her path more troublesome. But when you corner her, threaten her, or otherwise physically attack her, she’ll attack back with all the force she’s got. Besides all this trouble and transformation, Rachael is a really sweet, cute girl to be around. She treasures her friends like gold. She treasures the ones she loves even more.

FULL LENGTH HISTORY:
Rachel lived a normal life, growing up as a young girl in Quileute Native American territory. Her father told her all the stories that all the other little boys and girls got to enjoy, and it was wonderful for her. She loved learning about her history.
Rachael Black was eight years old, however, when she knew. She was fifteen when she knew some sort of truth. Or rather, a new truth to her. By then, the Cullen’s had hardly been there for more than a year or so, and that’s all the time that she needed to figure out something about her hometown, that it was surrounded by wolves. Huge wolves.
She was out and about around the Lake, looking for a necklace that she had accidentally dropped into the water when something out of the corner of her eye shifted beside her. All she could see when her black hair parted was fur, massive amounts of fur, brush by a nearby tree – and then disappear into the forest beyond.
She didn’t scream. She didn’t gasp. She simply. . .watched.
The one thing about Rachael that always stood her out from the rest was that unusual things didn’t bother her. She always loved the villains in all the stories; she always thought that superhero’s were overrated. But as she saw that massive amount of something not but 10 feet away from her, return back into the foliage, she only watched in amazement – in twisted curiosity. She wasn’t scared at all.
After that one moment, that one glimpse of another world she knew nothing about, she studied the forest day in and day out for the wolf. It wasn’t a wolf, she decided. It was something bigger. Something more magnificent that just a normal wolf. She wasn’t going to use books – she didn’t want to read about some fairytale being that they over exaggerate disgustingly. And the Internet was out of the question…the family computer didn’t really work as hard as it should have. So she just watched the forests attentively, praying to God that it would come out and say ‘Hi’ to her at least. Maybe whisk a tail. Bat an eyelash. Move some ears. But four months went by with no wolf, and Rachael grudgingly had to give up. The wolf was never going to come back to her.
She could never get the animal out of her mind after that. Even as she resumed normal life and all its practices, she could never get that one moment of time out of her head. After awhile, she thought it was only a dream that she had, a long time ago. It seemed that way, with the grass being greener that day and the water being clearer, and the forest more mysterious that day too. She just assumed all of it was a dream and that she had looked for nothing. Eventually, she forgot it all even happened.
As most of her life continued, she found that she has an affinity for art. She didn’t know she was necessarily good until she was a junior in high school, where on a spur of the moment impulse, she made the school website and everyone loved it. She found out her career in digital art and pursued it, not getting many scholarships but making it through in somewhere in Maryland, Boston.
College life for her was difficult. Every day, her body ached to be back home, and even though her grades were steady and improving, she felt lovely and sick of the place around her. She wanted to go back home.
Some nights, she would go out and enjoy the Boston lights. But one night, she wasn’t so lucky. With a group of loose friends she hardly knew, she was talked into going to a club with them and enjoying the night at a party afterwards. Rachel wasn’t exactly acting like she normally as – bubbly, happy, peppy. She sat near the corner of the bar, keeping to herself. One moment, she was enjoying a daiquiri. The next moment, she was in a dark room, lips pressed against her neck.
She was woozy, dizzy, and disoriented. She could hardly raise her hand to slap the guy away. But as he used her, hands pinning her weak arms down, she could only moan a scream before someone noticed. She had been drugged. The stranger came up, shoved the guy away, and leaned her up against him. After waking up at her college dorm the next day, she could only remember clammy hands rubbing circles into her hips.
After then, almost getting robbed, and someone accidentally ruining her car, she noticed it was as if her Native American blood was screaming for her to come back home. She carried an omen that made nothing but trouble for her in this foreign place, and finally she got sick of it. After that night at the club, and the series of bad things happening to her, she booked the first flight home. She was coming back to La Push, and finishing school there. It was the only place in the world where she would feel comfortable and safe.
It was when she came home after the first couple of months – after she had received extensive therapy for her night in that Boston club – that she allowed herself a walk out in public again. Instead of a skirt, she wore jeans, and a belt around her waist, securely clipped tight. First, it was just a short walk. Then another walk, longer than the last. Then, a full walk. Like the ones she used to take. She told no one of her rape in Boston. Not her father, her brother. With her first walk, her first new steps, she felt a new beginning.
And that’s when she met Billa Schwartz. Her first long walk, towards the La Push beach. Unaware of his vampire nature, she became entranced.
