While in France, taking care of a few newborn problems, it seems that Jane has managed to pick herself up a stray puppy. Catching one of her targets attacking a human, intending to make it its next meal, Jane is captured by the scent of the human's blood. It wasn't entirely anything special, and Jane could have ignored it had it not been for the human herself. She was bleeding out, and on a whim Jane decided to end her life and ease her suffering. Plus, a dead human would be a little less temptation. But when she tried to use her power on the girl, as to distract her from the swift crack of the neck, Jane found that her power didn’t work to full extent. The girl hardly showed any signs of pain, and in this Jane saw potential. There wasn’t enough time to bring this girl to Aro, so Jane decided to turn her. After this, the girls found that because it was Jane who turned her, the power no longer applied to her. Taking her back to Volterra, Jane hid this girl in the underground tunnels until she could tell Aro and Alec about her find.
